This is a customers bike we had in the shop for a cosmetic overhaul.
This FLHX belongs to Romero, one of our customers. His bike started off as I nice looking bike with the factory lines and color that you would expect to see on a Harley. He wanted to stand out in the crowd though, so we began to work on taking this bike from the run-of-the-mill looks it had to an absolutely custom paint and rear end look. Here is what took place.
We started with the bike and aded a set of aftermarket fiberglass saddlebags.
Next we brought the bike into the shop and started taking the front end apart so that could be sent to the painter for the custom paint and airbrushed images.
Now it was time to begin the really hard work. We wanted to add a long and low rear fender to match the lines the bags would create. We turned to Arlen Ness for a fiberglass rear fender to match the bags we had. The hard work came into play when we realized the bags would not simply bolt on. Our team spent hours molding and shaping the fiberglass to make them fit just right. We pride ourselves on doing things the right way here, and this was no exception. If you have ever cut and sanded fiberglass, you know what we went through to make this bike have the visual and mechanical standards we require at Daytec.
We started getting parts back from the painters and the re-assembly began.
Here it is. It doesn't matter if this bike is your style or not, It is by all means a work of art. I hope you enjoy looking through the artwork and the build process. You have one slick custom piece of art Romero!
